Thornton has a lot of modern family housing with growing electrical demand, home offices, garden rooms, two cars on the drive, and consumer units that were specified for a much simpler household.

Modern estates, growing demand

A big share of Thornton is post-1970s and a good chunk of it is genuinely modern. The wiring is usually sound, which means the work here is less about safety rescues and more about capacity: a home office that needs proper sockets and data rather than a trailing extension lead, a garden room that needs a real supply rather than a cable out of a window, a second car that needs a charger. All of that is easier on a modern installation, but it still needs a spare way on the board and someone to check the incoming supply will carry it.

Garden rooms and outbuildings

Supplying a garden room or a garage properly means a correctly sized armoured cable, buried at the right depth, terminated into its own small consumer unit at the far end with its own protection. Done that way you get sockets, lights and heating that work reliably and are covered by certification. Done the cheap way, with flex run through the lawn, you get something that trips constantly and would fail any inspection. It is one of the jobs where the difference between a proper install and a bodge is invisible on day one and very visible by year two.

CCTV and alarms that people actually use

There is a lot of CCTV sold on the Fylde Coast and a lot of it ends up unwatched, with cameras aimed at hedges and an app nobody has logged into since installation. When I fit a system I put cameras where they will actually identify someone, run the cabling in rather than clipping it up the outside of the house, and set the phone viewing up with you so you know it works before I leave. Fewer cameras positioned properly beats more cameras positioned badly, every time.

Working around a family

Most of my Thornton work is in occupied family homes, which means power off for the shortest time possible, dust sheets down, and everything cleared at the end of each day rather than the end of the job. If the kids are home I will tell you which rooms are live and which are not.

Qualified, insured and local. Every job in Thornton is tested and certified, and you deal with me from the first phone call to the last bit of clearing up.

Thornton questions

Yes, Thornton and Cleveleys are both on my regular patch and I am often in both in the same week.
Most straightforward domestic installs are a single day. If the consumer unit needs upgrading first, allow a second day.
Yes, with armoured cable, its own consumer unit and full certification. That is the right way to do it and the only way it will pass a future inspection.
